PRAC French Immersion Day

French Day 2009 by Tyron Haberland (Year 7 student) PRAC French Immersion Day

On 8 September, East Claremont had its annual French Day.

The morning started off with our French assembly. The Pre-Primary came along from down the road and sang a little song. The Year 1/2 also had a song, in which Paris in Year 2 did a solo. Year 2/3 performed a song called "Let's go to the woods while the wolf is not there". The Year 5/6/7 acted a fictional play describing how Leonardo da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa in a comical way. Many people liked the models in our play.

After that had finished, the school headed over to the Undercover Area to have a parade of the costumes. Our host, Pascale, led us through all the costumes. There were artists, singers, actors, dancers and mimes! There were some great costumes and everyone had a laugh.

The children then had a play and were assigned to groups. We had a recess of petits pains au chocolat and chocolate milk. In our groups, we headed over to a table each.

French Day was well decorated with balloons and streamers.

The art groups were good fun with popstick Eiffel Towers, chalk pavement drawings, dot painting, cubist collage and still life. It was all in a famous French painter's style. Pascale then sang some French songs and got some children up on stage to dance with her. Everyone loved the day and looks forward to next year. A BIG thank you to Mme Hartwig & Mme Dubuisson and everyone else who helped set up and organise this event.
