Enhancement Activities
Significant activities and events are conducted throughout the year to complement the learning program, and to offer students diverse and comprehensive experiences.
School incursions and excursions vary from class to class and year to year. In recent years, school incursions have included Science Alive, L'Amour est Bizarre and Constable Care. Excursions relate to curriculum topics and have included visits to farms, the zoo, museums, science labs and escorted historical walks.
Other activities
Social Dance - children from years 1-7 take lessons to learn dance steps and routines, culminating in an end of year supervised 'disco'.
Book Week Activities - Book Week is a highlight of each year. The children and staff usually dress as a character from their favourite book. In 2004, East Claremont was also the winner of the book week exhibition competition at the local Claremont Public Library.
French Day - each year, we hold a French Cultural Day to supplement the French Partial Immersion program. This is an opportunity to experience French food and culture in a fun atmosphere.
Easter and Christmas Services - all children can be involved in services to gain insight into Christian belief and traditions.
Remembrance and ANZAC Day services - all children from years 1-7 attend these services, to enhance historical understanding and to practice appropriate ceremonial behaviours.
Charity based activities - throughout the year, children are encouraged to learn about those less fortunate, and to participate in various fund-raising activities which will benefit those in need. In recent years, this has included Daffodil Day, Bandanna Day and Jump Rope for Heart.
Performance (Assemblies) - classes from Pre-Primary to Year 7 take turns in hosting the fortnightly school assemblies. This is an exceptional opportunity for children to communicate work to parents and to allow children to practice public speaking and performance.
School Open Night - each year, parents and friends are invited to visit the school to view the work in each classroom.
