Traffic Safety Measures

The school is situated at the intersection of two busy roads and a traffic hazard exists for children as they approach and leave the school. Traffic, on Princess Road west of the roundabout in particular, is fast moving and has obscured visibility. School zone signs and pavement (road) markings are now in place.

Pedestrians

It is essential that:

  • parents ensure that their children know the safest route to school, and check that they are using it during the year;
  • children use the Bay Road crosswalk, attended by a crossing guard, before and after school;
  • children do not cross Bay Road to College Park during school recesses. Children from Years 1-7 cross only when an adult is present. A teacher is rostered to supervise children at College Park at lunch time.

Cyclists

Cyclists, particularly those approaching the school from the north, must get off their bikes and cross Bay Road at the attended cross walk. It is not advisable for children below Year 4 to ride their bikes to school because of the volume of traffic near the school.

Parking

There is limited parking on the verge of Bay Road which runs between the school and College Park. Additional drop-off and pick-up parking is available in the University of WA car park at the southern end of the school. All parents are encouraged to use this as the preferred drop-off and pick-up area. Please take careful note of parking signage in the UWA carpark as infringement notices will be issued where applicable. Do not park in disabled, reserved or loading bays.

Parking along Princess Road is for the use of teachers and staff only.
