School Charges & Voluntary Contributions

Total fees, charges and voluntary contributions incurred each year by parents for their child's education at East Claremont Primary School consists of six components:

Excursion and Incursion costs

A number of excursions and incursions are scheduled for each class to complement the teaching program. Charges vary from class to class and year to year. Charges are only applicable to students taking part in each event.

These costs are payable to East Claremont Primary School and will be requested at the commencement of the school year.

Curriculum Area Contributions

A contribution is requested from each student toward each curriculum area. These contributions cover costs associated with teaching the learning areas of the curriculum (ie The Arts, English, Mathematics, Society & Environment, Science, Technology & Enterprise and Health & Physical Education). Discounts apply for 2nd and subsequent children attending the school.

These costs are payable to East Claremont Primary School and will be requested at the commencement of the school year.

Optional Activity Costs

East Claremont Primary School offers students a number of optional activities. These activities vary from class to class, but may include activities such as camps (Year 7), instrumental music (Years 3-7) and PEAC programs (Years 5-7). These charges are only applicable to students taking part in these programs.

These costs are payable to East Claremont Primary School and will be requested at the commencement of the school year when costs and participation by students is confirmed.

Personal Use Items

All children will be provided with a Booklist prior to the commencement of the school year, or upon enrolment. These lists vary from class to class, and include items for personal use such as pens, pencils, stationery, diaries etc. Items may be purchased at a store of your choice, however Wooldridges A&M stock all supplies, and prior to the commencement of the school year, offer a range of convenient purchasing options. Details appear on the booklist. Please note that these costs have been included in the Excursion & Incursion Costs for Pre-Primary.

P&C Levy & fundraising

The financial support provided by the East Claremont Primary School P&C Association is significant, without which many of the specialist teaching programs such as French, Music, Art & Craft and Physical Education would not continue at Prac. The financial support provided goes toward a number of school programs and staff, as well as specific projects, such as:

  • Teacher assistant & music specialist salaries
  • Library resources
  • French Immersion program
  • Trophies and graduation night
  • Classroom resources
  • Health & physical education programs
  • Pre-primary resources
  • Grounds upgrade

Funds to support these projects and services are raised in two ways:

  • P & C Voluntary Levy, and
  • Fund raising events organised by the Fundraising Committee of the P&C.

Expenditure of P&C funds is discussed and approved at P&C meetings. The decisions are based on recommendations from the Principal, made following consultation with staff and parents. Details of P&C revenue, expenditure and budget are available from the Administration Office.

The P&C levy is payable to East Claremont Primary SchoolP&C Association and are due by 30th June. An invoice will be issued early in the school year. Details of fundraising events will be advertised throughout the year.

Special Fund-raising costs

Throughout the year, a number of non-P&C fund-raising events are scheduled. These events may include:

Charity days , where the school raises funds to be donated to a specific charity (eg Bandanna Day, Daffodil Day or Jump-rope-for-Heart), and are generally organised and run by children of specific classes. These events help our children understand the situation of those less fortunate than themselves;

Class fund-raisers , where a class raises funds in conjunction with a classroom topic (eg camp fundraiser, adopt-a-zoo-animal, AQWA sleepover).

Participation in these events is optional, and will vary from year to year. Details of such events are advertised throughout the year.
